Approach & Methodology

All Insight consultants work to provide practical solutions to organisational problems. The team believes in promoting a "solutions culture" within organisations, where people are encouraged to share responsibility for improving and developing the “business”. To support clients, Insight offers a range of consultancy services. These include skills audits; training needs analyses; communications audits; business planning; perceptions audits and customer research.

Alongside conventional ‘classroom’ training programmes, we now offer both standalone and integrated e-learning options across all topics. This enables flexibility for participants and greater ownership of their learning.

There is good evidence to suggest that most adults learn best when they engage with their learning. With this in mind, all Insight training programmes are highly participative, and make use of a wide range of training techniques. These include:

  • group work
  • action learning
  • questionnaires
  • discussion
  • video recording, playback and review
  • mentoring
  • informal coaching sessions
  • simulations which thematically develop participants' insight into more complex issues
  • case studies and scenarios

Our attempt to engage learners is a theme which has been continued in our e learning development. We have tried to encompass the benefits of face to face training with new technologies through the development of our e-academy to provide an interactive learning environment. At Insight we are looking to be at the forefront of this rapidly developing area using new technology and the Internet to enhance the learning experience for our clients.

Insight also believes that participants, whether they are accessing learning via a workshop or by e-means, need to see the relevance of what they are studying to their workplace environment. As a result our case studies and simulations reflect real problems in real work situations. This approach of tailoring the training to the current and developing needs of the client is one in which Insight has extensive experience and it has contributed greatly to Insight's national reputation.

When appropriate, Insight encourages the use of pre-course reading and follow up activity. This achieves a greater focus to development and training events and makes the most effective use of the time that is available. It also ensures that the training event is firmly embedded in the workplace by encouraging:

  • Practical application of learning in the work environment.
  • Opportunities to build on the skills, knowledge and experience of those attending.
  • Effective transfer of learning to other staff within the team/organisation.

Lastly, Insight offers a wide range of coaching and mentoring support. These techniques are increasingly recognised as key to personal development and improving performance. Once again, Insight will tailor the coaching or mentoring process around the needs of individual clients.

The administration of all our programmes can also be supported by the extranet avoiding the need for mass print runs and improving communication.
